The juice is worth the squeeze 🍊
The Pulp covers Missoula seriously, curiously and with a little juice. Your support makes it possible.
The model works because readers like you decide it’s worth chipping in. If a story we’ve published this year made you think, made you mad, or made you feel more connected to this community, this is how you keep it going.
Locally grown 🌱
More than 1,300 people have donated since we launched in fall 2023. Missoula’s buy-in is a big reason why The Pulp won LION Publishers’ New Business of the Year Award in 2024. 🏆 And the journalism you’re funding is getting recognized nationally — in 2025 we were nominated for the Next Challenge’s Future of Local Journalism Award, and our Community Medical Center series was a finalist for the Best Investigative Journalism Award from the Institute for Nonprofit News.

Why are readers chipping in?
Well, here’s what they’re saying:
💬 “Love the writing in The Pulp. Sharp, smart, makes me appreciate the writers’ command of words and themes. Thank you!” 🤩
💬 “You’re nuts, but I’ll help in any way I can.” 🙃
💬 “Keep up the fantastic journalism and general great vibes!” 😎
💬 “You’re wonderful. Thank you for stepping up to the empty independent journalism plate.” ⚾️
💬 “I realize now that we have to pay for well-rendered, real journalism and I’m happy to do it.” 😘
💬 “Short of you reinventing the old Independent, you are doing fine.” 🤷
💬 “I think about the dog poop story 💩 on a semi-regular basis, and am always excited to tell people about the stellar journalism The Pulp provides (testament to your skill that I mention dog poop and stellar journalism in the same sentence). Also love, love, LOVE the events emails!” 🧡
