The stranger on the bus who caught your eye right before your stop. The person at Charlie B’s at 2 a.m. who bought your drink but snuck away. The cutie who was buying so much broccoli at the Orange Street Food Farm. The person flipping through the same record bin as you at Rockin’ Rudy’s who you swear was flirting but couldn’t be sure.

Make it good

  • 📍 We need to see the scene: where, when, what they were doing or wearing — the tiny detail that made them stick in your head.
  • 🎯 Don’t just say “you were cute.” Say what they did — the joke they made, the song they were humming and what it made you feel.
  • 🤔 Give us the almost scenario: what you wish you’d said, what stopped you, what you’d say now if the person is reading this.
  • ⏰ Time and place matter — “Wednesday, Break Espresso, 8 a.m., you ordered for the person behind you” is better than “I saw you downtown.”
