Emma McDowell grew up among the rolling hills of Vermont, where she learned to love good coffee, winding trails, and stories about the natural world. After earning her degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, she wandered far and wide — teaching in Thailand as a Fulbright grantee, leading backpacking trips in Peru and later working with specialty coffee producers in the highlands of Guatemala. Now a master’s student in environmental journalism at the University of Montana, Emma spends her days chasing stories that connect people, place, and the environment.
